Overview
To use ColoradoGives.org's Mailchimp Integration, you must have an active ColoradoGives.org's Advanced subscription.
If you connect a Mailchimp account, but your subscription to ColoradoGives.org's Advanced subscription ends, data from ColoradoGives.org's will no longer be synced with your Mailchimp account. Should you choose to continue your ColoradoGives.org's Advanced subscription in the future, your ColoradoGives.org's/Mailchimp configuration will still be saved.
Set Up
To connect your Mailchimp account with ColoradoGives.org, visit your organization's ColoradoGives.org's page while logged in as an org administrator. From there, select the “Integrations” tab on the dashboard menu, and then click on “Mailchimp”, either in the dashboard menu on the left or from the main “Integrations” page.
On the Mailchimp page for your organization, if you are subscribed to ColoradoGives.org Advanced, you will see a button that says "Connect."
Clicking this button will take you to the login and Mailchimp authorization flow. From here, you will enter the username and password for the Mailchimp account you are connecting. If your account has been successfully connected, you will be returned to your organization's Mailchimp settings. Please contact our support team here if you have any issues connecting your Mailchimp account.
Options
- Disconnect Mailchimp - Click on the button labeled "Disconnect" at the top of the page to fully unlink your Mailchimp account. Your configuration will not be saved, and you will have to connect your Mailchimp account again if you want to resume syncing data from ColoradoGives.org.
- Enable Integration - This option determines whether a connected Mailchimp account will have data actively synced from ColoradoGives.org. It will be on by default, but it can be switched to "Off" to temporarily pause data from ColoradoGives.org being synced with Mailchimp.
Audiences
ColoradoGives.org allows you to select a specific audience from Mailchimp to sync contacts to. You can select a different audience for donors and campaign creators, respectively, or you can select the same for both. You can also select which tags your contacts will be labeled with in Mailchimp, with differing tags selected for each audience.
- Select Audience - Use this dropdown option to select which Mailchimp audience contacts from ColoradoGives.org will be synced to. There is one selection for each of Donors and Campaign Creators. Donors refers to individuals who have donated to your organization, and Campaign Creators refers to individuals who have created teams, fundraisers or events supporting your organization. Once you have selected an audience for either and saved your selection, contacts from that category will begin to sync with Mailchimp.
- Tags - Once you have selected an audience, you can select which tags from a list of tags associated with the selected audience those contacts should be labeled with. Any contacts synced to Mailchimp will have the tags selected for the respective audience they are added to.
- Use Custom Fields - Once you have selected an audience, you also have the option to enable or disable ColoradoGives.org custom fields being created on the selected audience. It will be enabled by default when you first select an audience. If this option is enabled, ColoradoGives.org will automatically create the custom fields detailed below. If disabled, ColoradoGives.org will not sync your contacts to Mailchimp with additional data along with their email address, besides the standard Mailchimp merge fields of First Name and Last Name.
All custom fields will have labels beginning with “mc_” to indicate their status as MightyCause custom fields. Mightycause is the underlying platform that powers Coloradogives.org
- Donor Custom Fields - If you choose to enabled "Use Custom Fields" for the audience you select for ColoradoGives.org donors, the following fields will be created on that audience for the purpose of including additional data about your donors:

Resync for Date Range
Use this feature to select a start date and an end date, and then press the resync button to start a process of finding all Mailchimp contacts that would have been synced from your ColoradoGives.org data in that date range. This may be useful if you want to retroactively add donors or campaign creators from your organization before you connected Mailchimp, or if you had contact syncing disabled for a time period but want to go back and sync any contacts you may have missed during that time.
This will take time to process and will run in the background. We will send you an email when we are finished, including details on any issues there may have been while syncing your contacts with Mailchimp for the specified date range.
Please contact us here if you have any other questions or needs regarding this feature.
